TCP and The Goat Farm Arts Center are proud to present CONTINUUM the Fourth Annual Exhibition & Benefit showcasing work by TCP’s artists-in-studio residents. 

CONTINUUM showcases the aesthetic exploration of TCP residents as they continue to expand their visual vernacular and move towards promising creative horizons. It is a celebration of The Creatives Project artists on their continued successes and the residual impact of the generous support from Atlanta and its diverse communities, with contributions of time, resources, and an overall spirit of giving. 

CONTINUUM marks the completion of artists MAO, Andre Keichian, and Charlie Watts’ artist residency. Continuing the cycle, artists Fatimah Abdullah, Molly Rose Freeman, Angus Galloway, Jason Kofke, Nick Madden, and Lucha Rodriguez will exhibit works from their first year with The Creatives Project. Music for the evening is by Feast of Violet, curated by Suno Deko. Specialty cocktails created by: Navarro Carr of The SoundTable.

Artist Romy Maloon has been selected to create a public art work for Elevate Atlanta, City of Atlanta - Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs downtown initiative to exhibit contemporary public art in October. TCP will host this public volunteer experience to help Romy bring this great project to fruition through community involvement. Romy will be in attendance to will give a brief overview of the project. She will walk participants through the process of creating the panels which will eventually wrap an entire building in artificial flowers! Join us in this fun art making experience!

Suno Deko curates an experience in which musicians create visual based works to support the atmosphere of their show. Not only will guests enjoy the musical stylings of each performer, they will also experience installations/ art works created by those performers.

Presented in collaboration with Ponce City Market, The Creatives Project and VSA Arts of Georgia will present the inaugural “Capturing Community” Youth Exhibition to benefit the Year of Boulevard intitative. The exhibition will showcase and celebrate works created by TCP’s summer portrait workshop participants including students from Operation P.E.A.C.E. and Big Bethel AME Church. Lite Bites will provided by Earth Biscuit Foods

 

ABOUT THE PROGRAM:
The Capture Project is a technology-based education program with a focus on language arts enrichment and social responsibility via the documentary arts. Participants will experience a one day portrait photography workshop to learn the fundamentals of storytelling through portrait photography. The program will be customized to provide youth with tools they’ll need to capture the personal stories and intimate portraits of individuals they meet in their community.

Each youth will be paired with a TCP artist mentor as they embark on a portrait scavenger hunt at participating
businesses along the street car path. Each team will engage community members through interviews and photography. The experience will be documented online and will culminate with a final exhibition of portraits and stories captured by each youth participant.

FLIGHT OF SWALLOWS

Flight of Swallows is a collaboration between aerialist Sadie Hawkins and cellist Deisha Oliver-Millar. Flight of Swallows is a kinesthetic call and response between improvising musicians and aerialist.  The orchestra for this particular performance will consist of Blake Helton (Percussion), George Walace (Peadal Steele), Terry Boiling (Singing Saw) and Deisha Oliver-Millar (cello).

TCP 2013-15 studio residents will reveal a collaborative installation created during their temporary studio residency at Ponce City Market Gallery!  The artists will be on hand to discuss their install, a sneak preview of CONTINUUM on 10.10, as well as their experience in residence with TCP.  We will also reveal the 2014/2016 class of artists-in-residents!

The installation will remain on display along with the “Capturing Community” Youth Exhibition through August 31st. The exhibition will showcase and celebrate works created by TCP’s summer portrait workshop participants including students from Operation P.E.A.C.E. and other area summer camps. The works will remain on display through August 31st.

ROLL YER OWN

Roll Yer Own is ASIFA-Atlanta's annual showcase of independent, animated short films  produced in Georgia. 3D, 2D, traditional hand-drawn, stop-motion and hybrids in between are all represented in this line-up, each of which requires painstaking dedication and a visionary collective of animators. Selections receive continued opportunities for distribution through ASIFA-Atlanta, and are eligible for inclusion in International Animation Day (IAD), ASIFA's international exchange program with participants from chapters worldwide.

The Creatives Project, in collaboration with the Goat Farm Outlands present an expressive night of vibrant music and coffee-inspired cocktails. Musical guests include Atlanta chamber folk outfit Book of Colors, Birmingham, Alabama's experimental group Sea Cycles, and Atlanta's Suno Deko (TCP music curator David Courtright). Guests are invited to enjoy complimentary Batdorf & Bronson + Patron XO Cafe cocktails, while perusing  TCP resident installations  in the newly opened Ponce City Market Gallery.
